The goalkeeper Dejan Milosavljev was the player of the match with 14 saves. This match was the match of the week. It should have been a derby, but the red-black team "held a lecture" in the court. Vardar is one step away from the ¼ finals, but they have to play another 60 minutes before that. The 2nd leg match will be played in Skopje on 30.03 at 19:30.
You could buy tickets online at: www.ticketplus.mk, or at the box-office of SC Jane Sandanski. We expect a full arena and placement among the best 8 teams in Europe.
Vardar started the match decisively, manly, bravely and precisely, and it was obvious that they will come back with new points. Dainis Kristopans scored the first 3 goals for Vardar and then our goalkeeper Milosavljev started his "performance." In the 19th minute, PPD Zagreb had to call for a timeout. Vardar dominated in the court, especially with the excellent game in defence. All accesses to Milosavljev were closed, and the rival scored only 6 goals in one half.
We played without Vuko Borozan, but even without him, we had players that were in the mood for scoring. Dissinger reminded us of his greatness, which he was showing while playing for Kiel. Skube and Karachic were excellent and Stole and Morraes were the biggest fighters as usual. Zagreb played rougher at some points, which is proved by the 10-minute suspension opposed to Vardar's of 2 minutes.
It seemed that Vardar surprised Zagreb with the game in defence. All our ideas were realized with goals. This season, Vardar showed how you should play important matches and did not allow any surprises in Zagreb. The host could not hope on a turnover. Vardar dominated and the whole match depended on them.
In the 2nd half, Vardar reached a 2-digit lead and proved their physical and mental readiness. Whenever Zagreb would hope on a change, Parrondo would change the game in defence and Zagreb would face new problems. In the 53rd minute, Martin Popovski scored for 26:15.
The filled arena in Zagreb started to empty itself earlier as an announcement of Zagreb's debacle and Vardar's triumph.
