Alexander Dereven reinforces Vardar

The young Russian back Alexander Dereven (23) is Vardar's new member and he will wear the red-black jersey in the next 3 seasons.

EHF confirmed that Dereven is one of the most talented left backs in Europe by nominating him for best young player this season. He was also part of the young All Star Team on the last WC in Qatar

Dereven (198 cm) plays on the left back position and he will replace Alexei Rastvortsev whose contract with the club expired.

Dereven was born in Togliatti on 26.03.1992. Since 2012 he has been a member of Chekhovskie Medvedi, and this year he played all matches within the Champions' League group phase.

He scored 63 goals only in the group phase within the Champions' League this season because the Russian team did not secure placement in the 1/8 final. He also played for the Russian national team on the last WC in Qatar and won the 19th place. With Chekhovskie Medvedi, he won the national championship in 2013 and 2014, the Russian Cup in 2013 and the Russian Super Cup in 2014.
